Pledge Challenges: give fun runs, read-a-thons, and good deeds a home

Pledge campaigns just got more flexible. When you build a new one, you now pick what kind of challenge it is, right after you choose which fund it supports:

• Activity Challenge — the classic pledge campaign. Kids take part in something like a fun run, jog-a-thon, or dance-a-thon and collect pledges for it. This is the default, so nothing changes if that is all you need.
• Reading Challenge — the reading-minute logging your read-a-thons already use, now just given a name. Every existing read-a-thon was switched over automatically and works exactly the same as before.
• Service Challenge — brand new. Instead of an event or reading minutes, kids earn their pledges by completing good deeds, like helping a neighbor with yard work or collecting canned goods for a food bank. Perfect for a “Kindness Challenge” or similar drive, and it doesn’t require organizing a physical event at all.

Picking Service Challenge hands you a starter list of 20 activities on a new Service Activities tab on the campaign, where you can edit them, add your own, reorder them, or remove any you don’t want. You can even import a list from a spreadsheet or export the one you’re using. Right after a family signs up, each child picks at least three activities to work on. From then on, parents see their child’s choices on the dashboard and check them off as they’re finished, and you can see and adjust any participant’s picks from their page in the Admin. Selection and completion counts show up on the Service Activities tab and in your participant export, so you know at a glance how the drive is going.

You can change a campaign’s challenge type any time from its Pledge tab, so it’s easy to try Service Challenge on your next drive.
