Split a bank transaction right from Needs Review
Splitting a purchase across categories just got a lot quicker. Every row in Needs Review now has a Split across categories link. Click it and the same New Transaction window you know from the register opens, already filled in with the bank’s amount, date, and payee, plus any category you’d picked on the row. Add as many category lines as you need, watch for the “Adds up” badge, and save. The row leaves Needs Review, and you’re done. It works for bank and credit card accounts.
Say you have a $32.99 Target run. Split it into $20.00 Hospitality and $12.99 Classroom Supplies without ever leaving the page. The amount and money in or out come straight from the bank, so they can’t get out of step.
Deposits can be split too. When you record a general receipt in Funds Received, use Split across categories to spread it over several income categories. Say a $100 car wash deposit becomes $60 Fundraisers and $40 Donations. (Membership receipts don’t split.)
If your group uses teams or projects (ASB and booster clubs), there’s more. Funds Received has a team or project picker, one per split line as well. Each line in a Needs Review split can carry its own team or project. Treasurers can also change an expense report’s team or project until it’s approved or rejected. The new team’s approvers are asked to sign off, and the change shows in the report’s activity log. If your group has the “warn me when a team is missing” setting on, it now covers Needs Review, Write Check, deposits, and expense report payments too.
