Round Up: Compliance & Reporting Improvements

We’ve made a number of improvements this year to our reporting and compliance tools:

• Government Filing Compliance Report — Renamed to better describe its purpose, with a more useful column set for compliance officers: the IRS tax filing date is formatted as “MMM YYYY” for quick scanning, the organization date carries a clearer label, fiscal-year-end month is surfaced as a first-class column, and an As-of Date help text explains the freshness of the underlying data. Filters have been reordered for common workflows and a new IRS Tax File Date filter lets staff slice the report by filing recency.
• Tax Status Overhaul and IRS Integration — The tax status model has been rebuilt around three precise states instead of four, eliminating the ambiguous “Awaiting Filing” category that previously bundled together organizations in very different situations. In its place, two purpose-built statuses — Awaiting Filing and Past Due — now distinguish entities that still have time to file from those that have missed their deadline. A new IRS importer keeps these statuses in sync automatically, giving state staff an accurate real-time picture of filing compliance across every unit in their state.
• CA Attorney General Delinquent Registry — Connect now ingests the California Attorney General’s delinquent registry on a scheduled basis and presents it as a dedicated report at the state, district, and council levels. The report displays entity status, shows only entities visible to the signed-in user, and excludes out-of-council units at the council level. For district and council admins, the report also excludes the viewing entity itself so the list shows only the subordinate entities they need to act on.
• Bylaw Approval Report — A new Bylaw Approval Report is available at the district and council levels, giving leadership visibility into which subordinate entities have submitted bylaws for approval, which are still in review, and which have been approved. This closes a previous gap where bylaw-approval status was only surfaced to state admins.
• Past Due Activities Report Improvements — The Past Due Activities Report now includes an assigned-entity column so reviewers can immediately see which unit, council, or district owns each overdue item. The report also now includes activities in the rejected and in-review states, which were previously excluded and could leave genuinely overdue work invisible to administrators.
• Expired Team Invitations Report — A new Expired Team Invitations Report has been added at the council, district, and state levels. It lists invitations that were never accepted, shows the role that was offered, and supports sortable headers so admins can triage follow-ups efficiently.
