Recipient Groups: Save Your Message Audiences and See the Count Before You Send

Sending a message to your board used to mean rebuilding the same audience from scratch every time — picking positions, then picking which districts, councils, or units to include — with no way to save it and no way to know how many people you’d actually reach until after you clicked send.

Meet Recipient Groups. At the state, district, and council level, click Manage Groups next to Send Message to build a named group, like “District Presidents” or “All Peralta Council Boards.” Add filter rows — Position, Organization level, District, Council — and as you build, you’ll see a live count and a sample of who matches, so you can check your work before you save.

Once a group is saved, it shows up right on the send form. Pick one or more groups for any message, and Connect tells you exactly how many unique people you’re reaching and how many duplicates it removed — so a board member who wears two hats only gets one email. We’ve also included four ready-made groups for every organization — All, District, Council, and Unit Board Members — so common audiences are one click away, no building required.

While we were in there, we also fixed the attachments picker: it was quietly rejecting Word docs, Excel files, and CSVs even though Connect could handle them. It now accepts everything it’s supposed to, and it’s tucked behind a small “Attachments” toggle so it stays out of the way when you don’t need it.
