Connecting FutureFund

Link your HelpOut team to your school's FutureFund account so your volunteer roster fills in automatically and your HelpOut events show up on the family calendar.

Why Connect FutureFund?

If your school also uses FutureFund for fundraising, First Step, and volunteer sign-ups, connecting the two products saves you from keeping the same volunteer list in two places. Once you’re connected:

  • Every volunteer position in FutureFund becomes an address book here in HelpOut automatically, already filled in with the people who signed up for it.
  • Your HelpOut events show up on your school’s family calendar in FutureFund, so more parents actually see what you need help with.

Connecting

  1. Sign in to helpout.us.
  2. Click Settings in the left sidebar, then FutureFund.
  3. Click Connect to FutureFund.
  4. Sign in to FutureFund if you’re asked to, then pick which FutureFund account to connect. Only a FutureFund account administrator can approve this step, since it shares your school’s volunteer roster and calendar.
  5. You’re brought back to HelpOut, connected.

You can also start from the FutureFund side: in the FutureFund Admin, go to Account Settings > Integrations and click Connect HelpOut.

Each HelpOut team connects to exactly one FutureFund account. A school with more than one HelpOut team (say, separate teams for different clubs) can connect each one to the same FutureFund account.

What You’ll See on the FutureFund Settings Page

Once connected, the page shows:

  • The FutureFund account you’re linked to
  • How many volunteer lists have synced in
  • When they last updated

Below that is the list of synced address books, each with a link back to Manage in FutureFund.

Lists update on their own roughly once an hour. If you don’t want to wait, click Sync Now to refresh both the volunteer lists and your events on the calendar right away.

About the Synced Address Books

These books are read-only in HelpOut — you can’t rename them, delete them, or add and remove people directly. Make any changes in FutureFund instead; the matching book here updates to match. See Address Books for how synced books work and how to use them to invite people.

Your Events on the FutureFund Calendar

Show Up!, Bring It!, and Sign Up! events you create in HelpOut post to your school’s Events Calendar in FutureFund, tagged Volunteer, and link back to your HelpOut signup page. Families who subscribe to the calendar see them too.

Gift It! events never post to the calendar — those are a private collection between an organizer and one recipient, not something the rest of the school needs to see.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect on either side — the FutureFund Settings page here, or Account Settings > Integrations in FutureFund. Disconnecting removes the synced address books (and their contacts) from HelpOut, and takes your events off the FutureFund calendar. Nothing you built directly in HelpOut, like your events themselves, is affected.

You can reconnect at any time and everything picks back up on the next sync.
