Sharing and Invitations
Four ways to get your event in front of people — a link, emailed invitations, your address books, and a printable QR code — plus how to tell whether they arrived.
The Share Tab
Open your event and click Share. Everything you need to get people to your event is here:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy Link | Copies your event’s web address to paste anywhere |
| Paste Emails | Paste a list of addresses and HelpOut emails the invitation |
| Select from Address Book | Invite a saved contact list in one click |
| Download QR Code | Downloads a QR code image you can print or project |
Below the buttons is the list of every invitation sent for this event and what happened to it.
Sharing a Link
Click Copy Link and paste it into a text message, a group chat, a class newsletter, or a social post. Anyone with the link can open the event and respond — no account, no sign-in.
This is usually the fastest way to reach a group that already has a chat thread.
Emailing Invitations
- Click Paste Emails.
- Paste your addresses, one per line.
- Click Next.
- Review what HelpOut found, then click Send.
The review step sorts the addresses into three groups before anything is sent:
- Sending — valid addresses that will be invited
- Skipping duplicates — addresses already invited to this event
- Skipping invalid — addresses that aren’t formatted like email addresses
Only the valid ones are emailed. Nothing goes out until you click Send on the review screen, so it’s safe to paste a list and see what HelpOut makes of it.
Invitations and messages are different things. An invitation asks someone to respond; a message goes only to people who already have. Inviting someone again doesn’t send them a message, and sending a message doesn’t reach anyone who never responded. See [Messaging](/helpout/messaging/index).
